NATIONAL REHABILITATION HOSPITAL DEVELOPMENT RECEIVES PLANNING PERMISSION AND DUE FOR COMPLETION 2018.
The National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) in DunLaoghaire provides complex specialist rehabilitation services at a national, regional and community level to both inpatients and outpatients who have acquired a physical or cognitive disability as a result of an accident, illness or injury, and require specialist medical rehabilitation services.
The proposed development for the hospital provides for the systematic replacement of the outdated existing hospital complex, achieved in a number of Phases. Planning Permission was obtained in April this year for the first phase which comprises the replaces of all existing inpatient accommodation in a new 120 bed development all of which are single ensuite rooms, with integrated therapy facilities on each ward, living and social spaces, Fitness Gym, Hydrotherapy suite and ancillary facilities; all designed to best international practice, SARI guidelines and Universal Access requirements and recommendations. The project is due to start on site in 2016.
