O’Connell Mahon Architects Win Major Accolades in 2017

At the 2017 European Healthcare Design Awards  the North West Cancer Centre designed by O’Connell Mahon Architects in association with Isherwood & Ellis Architects and commissioned by the Western Health and Social Care Trust at Altnagelvin Area Hospital Derry was announced as the winner of the NHS Healthcare Design award for 2017 for

an outstanding healthcare project in any setting … that demonstrates new design thinking to sustainably transform the quality of care services in a compassionate and humanistic environment for staff, patients and families

Both the shortlist and the winner for this award were determined by a jury of international judges with proven expertise in the field of healthcare design.

The North West Cancer Centre was also announced winner of the Health Award in the Schuco Excellence Awards hosted by the RIBAJ which is awarded for creativity and design innovation and excellence in construction

In June 2017 RIAI President Carole Pollard announced Mercer’s Institute for Successful Aging as the winner of the Best Healthcare Award at the ceremony for the RIAI Architecture Awards 2017.

O’Connell Mahon Architects and Moloney O’Beirne were joint designers for this facility for the board of St James Hospital.
